What is Physics Alive?
Physics Alive is a mini-project which aims to provide Physics text books, revision materials and mentorship to high school students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Unlike other mentoring programs which are general, Physics Alive only focuses on one particular subject-Physics.  Also, our aim is to teach students how to study for Physics and prepare themselves for the National Examination.

Why Physics?

Physics is Mother Nature’s language. In order to understand our universe, we must understand the fundamental concepts of Physics. Students from disadvantaged backgrounds do not have enough study materials and hence they are locked out of competitive engineering courses.

Is Physics Alive a certified organization?
Physics Alive is not a certified organization; it is a mini project. I aim to raise funds through friendship networks. I will not hire consultants or auditors to verify our collections. However, this does not mean that there will be no accountability. The list of donors and the books bought will be sent via email to anyone who requests it.

How are we different?

We are family! I talk to these students every day. They are like my kids and just like a father; I want the best for them.  Your donations will not go into buying books for some “random” students. Secondly, no shilling will be wasted in “logistics”. All the money will go directly to the students.

Will it make any difference?

I strongly believe by the end of this project at least one or two students will have been inspired. I am a volunteer Physics teacher at St. Luke’s Kanunda  Secondary School and it is an amazing experience. You can feel the passion in the class. However, this does not mean that I am overlooking other factors which affect the students’ performance.

How can I be part of this family?

Just email me  - trevormokaya@gmail.com .  For my Kenyan friends, you can contact me through 0792789545 (Phone works until 26th Feb 2016).

Omangi Trevor is a senior at Seoul National University. He is pursuing Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He is also a high school mentor and currently a volunteer Physics teacher at St. Luke’s Kanunda  Secondary School. He loves field hockey, sugar, spice and everything nice :)
